That’s what we called them when the team was still in St. Louis. The cheer was “Go Big Red!”. I can’t believe the Cardiac Cardinals are actually going. That was their other nickname they earned back in the day for pulling out victories at the last minute and giving us fans heart palpitations. You know, just like yesterday against the Eagles.
I really can’t believe they did it under the clueless and cheap Bidwill family. The team was notoriously average in the Gateway City. That’s why I personally shed no tears when that mediocre organization moved to the desert. Must be the next generation that loosened up the purse strings because they are actually willing to pay for their talent now.
And how about Kurt Warner’s place in football history and trivia? I think he may be one of the few players to be on the rosters of the current and former teams of one city (Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams and St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals). Well, I know who I’m cheering for this year.
I’ll give them one more hurrah for the sake of childhood reminiscence as they face the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII. Yeah, on Super Sunday I think a lot of us older former and current St. Louisans will be shouting loud and proud, GO BIG RED!!!

While I am very happy that the Cardinals finally made it to a SuperBowl, I happen to be a Steelers fan. But I have a soft spot for underdogs, so I’ll *very quietly* slap a tiny high five if the Cardinals go all the way.
Thanks Hawa. That’s very gracious of you.
