The new year is is just about upon us. We’re heading into the last year of the first decade of the new millenium. The year of our Lord 2008 will go down as the watershed event of the decade to this point. Yeah, I even have to put it ahead of September 11th and it’s hard to nudge that moment from the collective concious of the country. But transitional and seminal events tend to have that nudging effect don’t they? Just look at the juxtaposition of the two events from 2001 to now. From having our corner of the world shattered to a renewed sense of national hope.
So what does 2009 hold for us? Personally, I have had an awakening and clarification of academic and professional purpose. I can’t wait to get into Chicago’s technical and arts scene next fall. I just finished reading yet another inspiring book, “Good to Great” by Jim Collins. It just helped crystalize the next couple of years for me so clearly.
Maybe in 2009 I’ll blog on some of the highlights that made the light bulb come on for me. In fact with my schedule for the next few months I ought to be able to get back to writing much more consistently so you will be hearing from me more often. I’ll also be able to finally complete my Advanced Communicator Bronze designation in Toastmasters International too. Need to get back to sharpening my speaking skills again. It can only help me with my new program at DePaul.
So I close this last post of 2008 dear friends by asking what does 2009 hold for you? I am definitely expecting to have a good-to-great transformational year.
