NPR Bloggers’ Roundtable: What is a ‘Black Leader’?

Congrats to LaShawn Barber of LaShawn Barber’s Corner, Wayne Hicks, a.k.a. “Villager” of the Electronic Village and Yobachi Boswell of Black Perspective fame. They were the guests of National Public Radio’s News and Notes last Wednesday.

Check on the ‘Listen Now’ link and hear the voices behind three of your favorite bloggers as they give their views on Black Leadership definitions and relevant social issues that touch our lives today.

Media acknowledgement of Afrosphere bloggers is growing and can only lead to better and greater things. That’s actionism at it’s best. As always, support your favorite bloggers. They’re waiting to engage you in the comment realm so chime in early and often.

    Marty,
Thank you very much for sharing this information with your blog readers. How often do you do your podcasts? There is a discussion within The AfroSpear about creating an AfroSpear-centric podcast (perhaps using BlogTalkRadio?). Anyhow, how often do you create new podcasts?

    peace, Villager

No problem man. You guys sounded great.

I’ve never gotten around to actually doing one. The most I’ve done is register with BlogTalkRadio but I haven’t checked my account in quite some time to keep up with the latest developments. As I recall though it’s pretty easy to create an account with them.

At this point though the issue would be getting a consistent air spot. They were growing really fast this time a year ago. Definitely a good thing to develop for the team though.

I’ve never been to your blog before; but thanks for posting this.

And I like the Coz post. I’m with him more than not; though he takes a few too many liberties with his speech.

But as I always point out, the likes of Carter G. Woodson, Marcus Garvey, and Malcolm X always preached self-reliance, and chided the the Black community for be lax in self-responsibility or moral behavior. If Coz is a sellout, then they’re sellouts.

My pleasure Yobachi. Thanks for your comments about the other posts and thanks for the historic references. Like you say, although people may take issue with his delivery, Coz’s thesis of self examination isn’t new for us.

Keep up the good work and hope to meet you at Blogging While Brown.
